Our Story

Our knowledgeable and compassionate team provides speech, language, cognitive, social, and feeding services to enhance the quality of our clients’ lives while empowering their caregivers through our unique team approach.

My name is Amy Haught and I founded IICA Speech! Here’s a bit about our history and my passion.

Born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio, I was lucky to have one of the best speech and language programs in my hometown! I graduated with a BS in Communication Disorders and then my MA in Speech Pathology with a minor in Audiology at the University of Cincinnati in 1995 after receiving a full academic scholarship.

Before moving to the Bay Area, I started my career by working at 2 non-profit agencies (1 full time and 1 part time) in Cincinnati. My full time position in a United Way agency focused on serving pre-school children with special needs emphasizing intensive parent training

and a language immersion classroom. My part-time job was at Easter Seals serving school-aged children in a summer speech program.

I have been in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1996. I received amazing training at The Morgan Center where I began specializing in Autism Spectrum and other relationship disorders.

Over the years, I’ve been blessed to be able to provide direct treatment, consultations and workshops to families and professionals in the US and Philippines regarding treatment of ASD. Other volunteer work I’ve enjoyed was participating with Angels on Stage as a behavioral consultant.

I’ve enjoyed membership in the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), California Speech and Hearing Association (CSHA), Santa Clara County Speech Language and Hearing Association (SCCSHA) Arizona Speech and Hearing Association (ArSHA). I have actively served on SCCSHA and CSHA boards since 2001. I loved serving as SCCSHA president, and currently sit on the Board of Directors of CSHA, which I very much enjoy!

I earned my ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in 1996. I’ve also received licensure in the states of California, Nevada, Ohio, and Arizona. I received my Clinical Rehab Service Credential from the California State Department of Education. I’m proud of earning my ASHA ACE award for continuing education and the CSHA Outstanding Achievement award.

As the practice has grown, we’ve been able to evolve into areas in which other SLPs have particular interest, talent, and training. By combining all of our skills, we are able to serve the community by providing high quality and ethical services. As a group, we’ve had the opportunity to train many graduate interns and clinical fellows.

As the owner of IICA it has been so exciting to see the talents and expertise of our team members. IICA Speech continues to build and grow. I enjoy watching our practice mature and grow all while maintaining my ability to work hands on with the clients!
